Beauty Is In The Eye Of The Beholder

The beauty of another is not always agreed upon by others, hence the term “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder” was created. The beauty of another is determined by what you define as beautiful. A little history on the saying can be found here. Personally, I think that this saying should hit everyone where it matters and I think if you don’t consider this saying can you truly be happy with your significant other? If you believe that a man/woman that you see in the streets is pretty or hot and your friend who sees him/her as well and thinks otherwise does not entail that you should change your mind just because your friend doesn’t see the way you see him/her. Another quote that I found while searching Beholder quotes is:

“Beauty is in the heart of the beholder”-

-H.G. Wells

This quote using the word heart instead of eye is in my opinion better overall. It goes a little deeper with the use of the word heart and tells us to trust what our heart tells us and not what the opinion of others tell us. But if you are intrigued and would like to read more beholder quotes you can click right here

Premise 1: Mike wants to ask out a girl because he thinks she is beautiful

Premise 2: Mike’s friends think she is ugly

Conclusion: Therefore he should not ask her out

Premise 1 can be widely accepted as true because of the fact that everyone likes and finds different things about different people attractive and not attractive it just depends on who you are as a person.

Premise 2 can be widely accepted as true as well because Mike may find this woman beautiful but that Beauty Is In The Eye Of The Beholderdoes not mean his friends feel the same way because they are different people with completely different opinions and ideologies.
